History of the Missouri Governor’s Ham Breakfast
The Missouri Governor’s Ham Breakfast was started by Governor Forrest Smith, the 42nd Governor of Missouri, in 1953.

Today, this high-profile event brings together leaders in government, politics and agriculture to benefit Missouri’s Youth in Agriculture, celebrate agriculture’s past and look forward to its future. The Missouri State Fair Foundation hosts more than 1,000 guests at the Director’s Tent on the second Thursday of each fair, highlighting many AgriMissouri products for breakfast.

The auction features the fair’s Grand Champion Ham, the Reserve Grand Champion Ham, the Grand Champion Bacon and a collector belt buckle.

Proceeds from the auction of the Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Hams, Grand Champion Bacon and Limited Edition Belt Buckle are used by the Missouri State Fair Foundation to pay premiums to winning exhibitors and to provide scholarships for youth in agriculture.
