Five Groups to Receive "I'm Pet Friendly" Grants Totaling $10,000 in Lee's Summit Monday
Director of Agriculture Dr. Jon Hagler will visit Lee's Summit Monday to recognize five local animal care organizations for their efforts to assist animal shelters and low income pet owners care for dogs and cats in the Kansas City area and throughout northwestern Missouri. Karma's Black Dog Rescue of Kansas City, the Foundation for Animals in Risk of Sedalia, the St. Joseph Animal Control and Rescue, the City of Warrensburg Animal Shelter and the Independence Animal Shelter will each receive $2,000 to support their spay and neuter programs.
The grants are funded through Missouri's "I'm Pet Friendly" license plate program. The sale of each plate provides $20 for the state's Spay & Neuter Grant Program.
Grants are distributed by a committee of three animal care professionals. Committee member George Harding, from the Lee's Summit Animal Shelter, will join Dr. Hagler for the grant presentation.
This is the fourth year for the program.
