State Milk Board

State Milk Board (SMB) was created in 1972 to encourage orderly and sanitary production, transportation, processing and grading of fluid milk and processed milk products for consumption intrastate as well as interstate. Missouri has 465 grade A and 178 manufacturing grade dairy farms along with 36 grade A and manufacturing grade processing plants.

Wholesome, stable, and high-quality dairy product assurance is maintained through inspection and ratings oversight of dairy farms and dairy processing plants by SMB staff and contract services provided by Springfield-Green County Health Department.
