Meyer named Missouri Agricultural and Small Business Development Authority Executive Director
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – David Meyer, Jefferson City, has been named the executive director of the Missouri Agricultural and Small Business Development Authority (MASBDA). Meyer will take the place of Tony Stafford, who retired in November 2014.
The Missouri Agricultural and Small Business Development Authority is governed by a bipartisan commission whose seven members are appointed by the Governor with the consent of the Senate. MASBDA works directly with producers, agribusinesses and local lenders to support Missouri’s agricultural and rural economy. MASBDA administers a variety of loan, loan guarantee, grant, and tax credit programs, such as the Beginning Farmer Loan program, Single-Purpose Animal Facilities Loan Guarantee program, Value-Added Grant program, and Qualified Beef and Family Farm Breeding Livestock Tax Credit programs.
Prior to taking the helm at MASBDA, Meyer was the Missouri Department of Agriculture’s Business Development Coordinator. Meyer, a lifelong Missouri resident, was born in Moniteau County near High Point, Mo., on a small farm that was primarily a cow calf operation. David graduated from Lincoln University and earned a B.S. in economics. Since that time, he has worked in economic development, at both the state and local level.
