The Weights & Measures Division's Land Survey Program has established 11 Electronic Distance Measuring (EDM) calibration baselines in Missouri. These EDM calibration baselines provide users a means to evaluate the performance of the EDM equipment to ensure that it is operating within acceptable limits.
This EDM Calibration Baseline application performs a least squares adjustment and statistical analysis on distances observed by the user on a particular calibrated baseline. The user must complete the calibration form for the baseline to be used in the comparison prior to entering the observed distance information into the EDM Baseline Calibration application. The final test results from the EDM Baseline Calibration application will enable the operator to verify that the instrument is calibrated and is operating properly.
Begin the baseline measurement analysis by selecting the input format as horizontal entry or slope entry. All distance entries will entered in metric units. The height of instrument (HI) and height of object (HO) will be entered as the distance from the top of the monument to the center of the instrument or prism. The EDM application will calculate the elevation of the instrument and prism.
